Joel Stiles, PhD
Dr. Joel Stiles currently serves as the Executive Director of New Life Community Services. He began his career at New Life in 2001 as an addiction therapist and later completed his Bachelors at Bethany College. In 2006 he obtained his masters in Marital and Family Therapy from Western Seminary with an emphasis on integration of Psychology and Christian faith. He then ventured to Palo University and completed a masters in Clinical Psychology and a Ph.D. with an emphasis in Forensic Psychology. He is overjoyed to be involved in supporting New Life in delivering cutting edge services.
As a Clinical Psychologist Joel works for Santa Cruz County Integrated Behavioral Health delivering services in a primary care setting and providing consultation with medical providers. He previously worked for the Monterey County Children’s Behavioral Health where he provided evaluations and reports for the Dependency Court followed by recommending and providing treatment for families torn apart by drug addiction and abuse. Beginning in 2013 he worked with the Juvenile Court system evaluating and treating youth charged with sex offenses.
John Burke, PhD
Dr. John Burke is a licensed clinical psychologist (license PSY 21248) in the State of California with a post-doctoral coursework in neuropsychology from Palo Alto University and the University of California at Berkeley. He also serves as a faculty member at William Jessup University in San Jose California where he teaches Psychology courses including courses in the Integration of Psychology and Theology. He also is a Master’s Thesis Mentor in the Graduate Education Department. He has previously served as Lead Professor of Addiction Studies at Kaplan University. He is a M.Div. Fuller Seminary graduate and currently serves as an ordained part-time United Presbyterian Pastor in the Bonny Doon Presbyterian Church of Santa Cruz, CA.
John Burke is the principal author of Databases with Cold Fusion 3 and a contributing author to Running a Perfect Website and has authored journal articles in psychology and presented seminars on psychological and addictions subjects.
Steve Stiles, PhD
Dr. Steve Stiles is a faculty member at William Jessup University in San Jose, California, where he teaches addiction studies, and served for ten years as an adjunct faculty member at the Western Seminary San Jose campus. He has lectured internationally on substance abuse issues and has served as a resource for local governments, as well as California Tribal programs. Dr. Stiles has lectured throughout Asia and Europe on addiction topics.
He served for 40 years at New Life Community Services in Santa Cruz, California where emergency shelter and drug and alcohol treatment are provided in residential and outpatient services. He is a graduate of the American Baptist Seminary of the West (D.Min.) and maintains counselor certification through the National Association of Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselors (CADCII).
Steve Stiles is the author of two books through Gospel Publishing House, Thorns in the Heart and Recovery for Co-Dependency. He has also authored Gotchyaa and Journey On The Hard Side of Miracles
