The Amazing Word of God - We need to be able to have real faith. We need to be able to pray and know that God is going to answer our prayers. In order to have real faith that God responds to, you must pray based on the Word of God - using the Word of God as the Sword of the Spirit. You must know the Word of God! I want to see a great hunger for the Word of God stirred up! God is looking for people who will -Use the Word of God! 2 Tim 2:15 “Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.” The Greek word is - dokimos properly, acceptable; approved, tried. The idea is you have been using the Word, correctly handling it. Do you use/apply the Word of God in your daily life? You have to be trained/train yourself to use the Word of God! To rightly divide= (KJV) means to make a straight cut. (no cutting and pasting) Follow a straight path through the Word of God.

Why do you need to know the Word of God? In Luke 4:4 Jesus says - “That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.” 2 Pet 1:3-2:14 “His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.” Do you see what God’s promises are for? What is the focus here?

2 Peter 1:4 Speaks of how we all have impure desires - These desires must be rooted out; and love to God and man is to be implanted in its place. This is every Christian's privilege; God has promised to purify our hearts by faith; - This blessing may be expected by those who are continually escaping, Greek word - apophugontes -meaning - flying from, the corruption that is in the world and in themselves. God purifies no heart in which sin is indulged. Get pardon through the blood of the Lamb; feel your need of being purified in heart; seek that with all your soul; plead the exceeding great and invaluable promises that refer to this point; abstain from every appearance of evil; flee from self and sin to God; and the very God of peace will sanctify you through body, soul, and spirit!

Peter also said, We did not follow cleverly invented stories when we told you about the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty. prophecy never had its origin in the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.” Paul told Timothy - II Tim. 3:16 “All Scripture is God breathed...”

We have a very reliable copy of the original manuscripts. Many times invented stories or false teaching was rejected in the history of the early church. The Scripture was carefully guarded. So the Bible claims to be the inspired Word of God. And there are many incredible scientific discoveries and fulfilled prophecies that prove the Bible is inspired by God. It is so important that you really believe this is God’s Word to you! Not just, “oh, pastor that’s a good idea”. For if you do believe it is God’s Word, you will study it, know it, and live by it. Resulting in your life being changed and those around you, culminating in being received by God into a rich inheritance in heaven. 1Thes 2:13 “And we also thank God continually because, when you received the word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word of men, but as it actually is, the word of God, which is at work in you who believe.” Their faith allowed God to work in their lives.

Here are some proofs: Prophecies concerning Jesus. The Bible declares the evidence of fulfilled prophecy is a great proof of God’s inspiration of Scripture. Isaiah 44:6 “I am the first and I am the last; besides me there is no God. And who can proclaim as I do? Then let him declare it and set it in order for Me, since I appointed the ancient people. And the things that are coming and shall come, let them show these to them.” Jesus is a historical person - There are several non-biblical sources that speak of him.. Jesus as the Messiah, as the Savior of the World was predicted in many ways. There are 17 incredible prophecies about His coming. The odds of one man fulfilling these 17 specific prophecies is over 1 in a Trillion. Yet, Jesus fulfilled them exactly. Many people are taking a terrible chance - the odds are not good that these fulfilled prophecies about Jesus Christ are not reliable. We need to carefully consider the claims the Bible makes about the life, death and resurrection of J.C. Jesus Himself, made some prophecies that are coming to pass even today. Earthquakes would be like birth pangs - increasing in intensity and frequency before His coming again. Consider the frequency of Major quakes 7.2 or more. 1900 to 1949 averaged 3 per decade 9 in the 1950's. 13 in the 1960's. 56 in the 1970's. 74 in the 1980's. At the present rate 125 in the 1990's. We just had another one in Turkey!

So the Bible declares itself the Word of God, Jesus declares Himself the Son of God - You and I must decide - is that true? And if it is, how will we respond? God has made all these great promises! will you believe them? Live by faith, not just by sight! Then you will see the glory of God! The important thing is not trying to figure out when Jesus will come - but being ready! Living for Him. II Peter 3:11 ...”what kind of people ought you to be? .. holy and godly..” Ask Him into your life today if you have not done so already. If you have already, press on in living by and through the Word of God.
